물론, 그건 나의 지극히 개인적인 생각이고, 꽤 오랫동안 들어봤는데 아직까지도 쉬이 적응이 되지는 않는다. 허허허.
ㅋㅋㅋ. 이 곡에 대해서 어느것도 알 수 있는 정보가 없다는 것이 참 통탄스럽다.
그렇다면 내가 들을 바에 대한 내용을 적는 것으로.
음악의 시작은 색소폰의 하모니로 시작한다.
이 번곡은 특이하게 STEPHEN 형제들이 곡을 만들었는데,
늘 나오는 STEPHEN 'DOC' 외의 인물은 역시나 COMPOSER로만 되어있다.
베이스 위주로 생각을 해보면, 곡에서의 베이스 플레이는 8비트 스타카토 위주의 연주에
16비트를 섞는 타입으로 연주를 했는데, 이 연주역시나 난해하기는 다른 곡과 별 다를 바 없이 느껴진다.
드럼과 베이스가 생각보다 리듬을 딱딱 끊으면서 음악의 흐름을 끊는 듯이 리듬을 만들어 가는데,
참 귀에 쉽게 들어오지 않는 단점이 있다. 개인적으로 말이지...
이게 리듬이 너무 난해해서 내 귀에 정말 잘 안들어올 수도 있다는 생각이 있다.
그래서...이 밴드의 리더인 EMILIO CASTILLO 에 대한 TOWER OF POWER 홈페이지에서 발췌한 내용을 좀 살펴보자.

THE OAKLAND ZONE이라는 자신만의 스타일을 구축하려고 했다는 내용인데, 이게 사실 EMILIO가 최초로 만들어 낸 스타일은 아닐 것이라는 생각은 든다. 다만, 산재해 있던 이런 스타일을 OAKLAND에 소개했을지도 모른다는 자의적인 해석을 해본다.

위에 열거한 3곡 중에서 나도 ONLY YOU와 GREEN ONIONS는 아는데,,,첫 번째 곡은 잘 모르겠당.
이거 굉장히 올드한 락앤롤 스타일인데, 섹소폰을 부는 아저씨가 굉장히 실력이 좋은게 느껴진다.
이 곡은 GREEN ONIONS 곡이다. 이 곡도 엄청나게 오래된 곡인데...
Life changed when we moved to California; the transition was tough but music made it easier. I heard a singer named Roger Collins who just floored me -- right then and there I became a soul fanatic, absolutely obsessed! Roger had a tune on Galaxy Records called “She’s Looking Good,” and it was killiin’! I saw him in concert, too -- he was Mr. Showtime, baby! I also fell under the spell of an East Bay group called the Spyders; they were so tight, they could drop on a dime. Their lead singer, Dennis Del Aqua, became my role model for soul singing. But everything changed the first time I saw Sly & the Family Stone.

Talk about entertainment value! Man! Me and Rocco (Prestia) would sneak into Frenchie’s and stay for six sets a night. No one could match Sly’s craft and substance and their music still inspires me today.
The years of togetherness with my band mates, and all the fans I've met on our journey, fills me with so many wonderful memories. And it gives me hope for many more.
I'm very proud of our last two records, Oakland Zone, and the "Great American Soulbook" which is a classic soul cover album with some great guest artists.
As a horn section, our collaborations with Huey Lewis, Little Feat and the Eurthymics stand out as my favorites. And I still have many goals to realize. I’d like to write a Tower of Power song that serves as the main theme in a classic motion picture, and I’d love to see the band make a record with an artist who has a timeless quality.
갑자기 이야기는 최근의 2개의 앨범이 자랑스러운 이유는 많은 뮤지션들과 함께 해서였는데, 그 중엣 HUEY LWEIS, LITTLE FEAT 그리고 EURTHYMICS이다.
I’m a homebody. When the band isn’t traveling, I spend all my time with my wife Suzanne, and my children Christian, Isabella, and Dominic; I also have two older daughters, Ariana and Katina. As a family, we’re very active in our local church and share a special fellowship there. I love my family with all my heart and soul, with every fiber of my being. I don’t just think it -- I say "I love you" regularly and, hopefully, I show it, consistently.
집에 있을 때에는 사랑하는 가족들을 생각한다고 하네...가정에도 정말 충실한 뮤지션이거 같아서 더 좋다.
I’ve learned from experience that God has a plan for me, and that it’s better than mine! I just try to remember that, no matter what comes down the pike.
음..생각보다 특별한 내용이 없는 것이, 한 밴드를 너무 오래 이끌고, 큰 사건 사고가 없어서 그런가...
너무나도 평범하고 무난하다.
