정규 앨범 상의 맨 마지막곡이며, 라이브에서도 자주 연주되는 팬들한테 인기가 많은 곡이다.
장장 8분 48초라는 경이적인 런닝 타임을 가지고 있다.
이 곡은 카이 한센의 작사/작곡이다.
그의 생각이 그대로 표현되기에 가장 좋은 곡이라고 보면 된다.
어쩌면 그가 원하는 방식은 다양한 악기? 리듬? 등의 변화를 통해서 한 가지 음악을 다양한 방식으로 표현하는 것을 원하는 지도
모르겠다.
그렇게 탄생했다고 생각하는 게 SILENCE 니까.
개인적으로 제일 처음 들었을 때, 이게 뭔 짜집기인가~~라는 생각이 강했던 탓에 그 방식이 나하고는 안 맞다는 생각을 한다.
참 시원하게 잘 달린다~~
4분대부터 갑자기 분위기가 반전이 되는데, 아주 잘 어울린다.
그 이후의 연주는 초반과는 다른 분위기로 몰아가면서 스피드는 여전히 유지한채 더 멋진 후반을 보여주기 위해
고군분투하는 모습이 보여진다.
이렇게 분위기가 변화되었다가, 다시 돌아오는데에는 약 3분 30초 정도의 시간이 소요된다.
그 모습을 라이브로 한 번 보자.
프로의 무대는 이제 봤으니, 아마추어 사람들이 이 곡을 연습하는 모습을 한 번 보면
이들처럼 이렇게 여유롭게 웃으면서 장난치면서 연주하는게 정말...대단하다고 느껴진다.
드럼은 정말 잘 치는 것 같은데, 베이스는 혼자서 집에서만 연습을 해서 그런가...
아니면 톤이 너무 정직해서 그런지는 몰라도...사실 디스토션이나 기타 다른 이펙터를 조금 사용하면
저렇게 끊어지는 소리가 적나라하지는 않은데...
저렇게 리프를 칠 때마다 끊어진다는 것은...개인적으론 연습이 더 필요하다고 생각하는...
아주 안 좋은 화질의 연주가 하나 있는데...기타 COVER 곡을 보는데, 이 사람이 제일 잘 치는 것 같다는 생각이 든다.
